The Perfect Weekend in San Diego

For those of you who have followed Wishlist’s journey, you know that over the past few months we’ve expanded to some of our favorite California cities. As a way to introduce you all to our newest California experiences we’ve launched a four-part series on the blog detailing the perfect weekend in each. This week, we’ll be sharing with you what we think makes the perfect weekend in San Diego.

Saturday Morning ::

Start your weekend off right with a trip to one of San Diego’s favorite breakfast spots, The Mission. The Mission has been feeding hungry San Diegans since 1997, and they’re obviously doing something right based on the daily line out the door. Fill up on fresh pancakes, or stacks of French toast. For more savory offerings try their Papas Con Chorizo or their Zen Breakfast. An added bonus, they have a gluten-free menu as well, so there’s truly something for everyone.

Saturday Afternoon ::

If you’re going to San Diego there is, of course, one place you cannot avoid and that is the San Diego Zoo. With just under 100 acres of sprawling pathways you’ll have no problem walking off your breakfast. Take a look at over 3,500 animals and more than 650 distinct species at one of the Nation’s top zoos.

Saturday Lunch ::

As is the case with breakfast spots, you’ll have no trouble finding a delicious and scenic spot with a great lunch menu. Our pick is C Level restaurant, which as the name suggests has a breathtaking view of the San Diego coastline. Split a couple of appetizers or fill up on some seaside specialties like lobster sandwiches or a crusted Ahi. This local’s favorite can fill up quickly so call ahead for reservations or try your luck as a walk-in.

Saturday Evening ::

Spend your evening laughing among friends at a San Diego improv show. Built by a group of professional improvisational actors, you’ll witness hilarious scenes, games, and interactive songs that are entirely made up as they go along. Each show is powered by the recommendations of the audience, so no two nights are the same. This is a great way to get out of the sun, sit back and enjoy a night of laughs and good company.

Saturday Dinner ::

For Saturday’s dinner enjoy excellent, fresh seafood from a San Diego favorite: Truluckk’s Seafood, Steak and Crab. With everything from fresh catch crab claws, to Miso-glazed tofu, and a Prime New York Strip, there is something on this menu to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. Although, it’s on the pricier side, Truluck’s is definitely a must try restaurant. It offers top-tier ambience, over-the-top desserts and delectable main courses.
