Purple Door Coffee – Denver

2962 Welton St, Denver, CO 80205
(720) 515-6639

If you’re a Denver native you’ll know that the historic neighborhood of Five Points has seen some changes over the past few years. With new housing complexes, trendy art galleries, and of course a myriad of high-end coffee shops, the once defunct neighborhood is reenergized and offering some of the best coffee in town. One such shop is Purple Door Coffee. This hidden coffee shop made the top of our list for a few reasons, the first being, you guessed it, the coffee. Famous for their unique house blends, and their use of only locally grown beans, the coffee here is balanced, strong, and superb. Purple Door doesn’t stop its expertise there though. Since opening in 2013, Purple Door has employed homeless youth and young adults who are looking for a safe way out poverty. This company has done a lot for the Denver community, all the while providing top blends and baked goods.

Boxcar Coffee Roasters – Boulder and Denver

1825 Pearl St, Boulder, CO 80302

and

3350 Brighton Blvd #110, Denver, CO 80216

Perhaps the most famous name in Colorado Coffee, Boxcar Coffee Roasters supplies many Colorado coffee shops with their house-roasted beans. For the real deal though, pop into their stomping grounds on Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, or at The Source in Denver. Aside from providing local cafés with high-end coffee, Boxcar has also taken the time to develop a Colorado-specific brewing method that works well with the high altitude and the low boiling temperature of water. In every sip you can taste their dedication to the perfect cup of coffee, and you’ll find their knowledgeable and friendly staff will help you navigate their many blends. If you make your way to The Source in Denver you may also get a behind-the-scenes glance at how they roast and sort their beans.

Cuppa Joe – Breckenridge

118 S Ridge St, Breckenridge, CO 80424
(970) 453-3938

We’ll admit that Cuppa Joe gets bonus points for location, but this small-town café will please even the most discerning of coffee drinkers. One of the many Colorado cafés that uses Boxcar beans (delivered fresh every week), Cuppa Joe offers steaming cups of coffee as they were meant to be enjoyed—at high altitude, with cold weather, freshly fallen snow, and an unbeatable view of the Colorado Rockies.

Bean Cycle Roasters – Fort Collins

144 N College Ave, Fort Collins, CO 80524
(970) 221-2964

Located in the heart of Old Town Fort Collins with a bookstore in back, this Colorado Coffee shop has ambiance down pat. It also offers a level of customization to your drink order that few other coffee shops allow. Choose any blend one of four ways—French press, yama (cold brewed), pour over, or chemex. Each brings out a subtle range of flavors making for the perfect drink. While you’re sipping your handcrafted coffee, browse Wolverine Farm Publishing Co., which shares a space with Bean Cycle, for your next great read.
