What To Do
Like most of Colorado, the adventures in the Carbondale area vary widely by season. During the winter, the area is know for it’s rich wealth of cross country skiing. A local favorite includes Spring Gulch where you can cross country ski through 13 beautiful miles of trails for free. If you like to have your adventures by foot, there are plenty of trails offering mountainous views that you can explore by snowshoe.

During the summer you’ll want to hit the must-experience Rio Grande Trail which offers 44 miles of continuous trails perfect for biking. During the warm months you can also hike, fly fish or golf during the day. Seeing a rodeo at least once in your life is a must and in Carbondale you’re in luck. During the summer months the town holds a rodeo every Thursday evening offering a chance to see bull riding, calf and team roping, mutton busting, dally ribbon roping and more.

After expending all that energy on the trails whether it be by skis, bicycle or foot, a dip in the hot springs at nearby Avalanche Ranch Hot Springs will soothe all your well-earned aches and pains. These three beautiful cascading hot springs are available year-round but require a reservation. If you want to be more free-wheeling with your soak, there’s also Glenwood Springs, a mere 12 miles away. Looking for a quiet romantic evening? Grab a glass of wine and a bite to eat at one of the restaurants and bars located on Main Street.
