Trees are starting to change color and daylight hours are diminishing. Autumn has arrived, and that means it is time to swap out your sandals for a warm pair of boots. Grab that box from the back of your closet, it is sweater weather!

Experience this fall to the fullest. Utilize all five senses and embrace every moment. Close your eyes and become aware of the chill breeze as the sun hits your face. Listen to the aspen leaves as they shake in the wind. Indulge your taste buds with pumpkin pie and a spiced chai latte. Take notice as our fresh mile high air starts to smell of smoky bonfires and savory spices. Absorb the warm color palate that sweeps across Colorado.

As seasons phase into one another, it is important to pause from our daily routines to take notice of the changes that surround us. It is so easy to get so caught-up in the past, and paths of our future, that we forget to embrace the moments in front of us.  This autumn, take a day to change your perspective. Do something new. Activity of the Week: Art Classes

As we gleefully welcome fall we must admit that as the days grow cooler and snow speckles the tips of our lovely Colorado mountains, getting out of bed each morning becomes increasingly difficult. If we had a choice, we would hunker down in our bed with a warm sweater, a cup of steaming coffee and the complete series of Seinfeld and basically call it a week. Sadly, though, life requires more of us and so we must truck through whatever extreme weather Colorado has in store for us this week, and return to work or school or daily chores.

Screen shot 2013-09-24 at 4.22.12 PMWe realize how difficult it is to fight the urge to stay in bed all day, especially on these cool fall days, but luckily rewarding yourself for your diligence to your daily duties is now easier than ever. Art classes may sound like they are not for you. Perhaps you are not artistically inclined or are color blind, but we can assure you that the art classes offered at Sipping n’ Painting and Painting Soiree are for you.

Join your friends or colleagues for an evening of music, painting and cocktails. At both Sipping n’ Painting and Painting Soiree, you will be guided through a step-by-step painting demonstration that will leave you feeling like a regular Picasso. Your evening of artistic exploration will also include complimentary cocktails and snacks so that your imagination can be fueled in more ways than one.

If you’re feeling a bit hesitant about embarking on this artistic endeavor, perhaps take some encouragement from Dr. Hilary Schor. As an English professor at USC Schor argues that  “the arts represent the best chance we have for expanding our imagination.” If you are struggling to feel inspired lately, or have already checked out until the New Year and Screen shot 2013-09-24 at 4.22.20 PMneed a little imagination boost, a night painting and sipping on cocktails could be your ideal outing.

As always we love to hear about your Colorado adventures! Share your own inspired activities by commenting below or on our facebook page. Stay up to date with all of Wishlist’s latest news as well as our other favorite activities of the week by signing up for our newsletter.
