As the school year gets underway, parents are racing to equip their kids (even those of you with college students) with everything they need for a successful year. In the midst of all the back to school pandemonium, Wishlist hopes to remind you to take some time out for yourself or to treat your student to a day of well deserved relaxation. If you are interested in a day away but one that won’t require tedious planning or the budget of a royal, the city of Broomfield, may indeed be your hidden Colorado gem.

The town of Broomfield, sandwiched in the west by Boulder, and Denver in the East, offers the best of an urban cityscape and a quaint small town. If you have found yourself falling too quickly into a work or school grind, maybe an ounce of adventure is what you need. Over the scenic town of Broomfield and beyond, join TYJ Global for a 30-minute helicopter ride that will give you a one of kind view of some of Colorado’s expansive landscapes.

If you’re feeling less adventurous and more in need of some R&R, pay a visit instead to Broomfield’s own Paul Derda Recreation Center. Open to visitors, this state-of-the-art recreation center offers everything from fitness classes to indoor and outdoor pools. The recreation center is an ideal place to go to just get away from it all.

In the midst of this unseasonable swelter, though, you may want to take advantage of Broomfield’s many scenic hiking trails and lush parks. With over 66 miles of trails in Broomfield, there are hikes at every degree of difficulty, making it a perfect outing for families, friends or even those new to Colorado. Broomfield also offers its visitors access to beautifully constructed bike paths, with many locations to rent bikes, making it easy for you to view the city as well as Broomfield’s unbeatable view of the front range.

Don’t let September slip by in a blur, take some time to explore Colorado and enjoy some of its most scenic cities. For more ideas as to how to get the most of your weekends as well as this fleeting summer weather, take a look at our previous Exploring Colorado posts.
